The 2016 T20 Blast hasn’t quite gone according to plan for the Yorkshire Vikings. They have lost their opening three games and T20 Blast star David Willey picked up a nasty injury just before the competition start.

I feel like when I’m going well and it all clicks, I’m the quickest bowler in the country

Liam Plunkett

Despite the collective Viking performance Liam Plunkett has been among the best players in the 2016 T20 Blast tournament, delivering results with bat and ball.

In the Vikings previous game vs Worcestershire Rapids Liam Plunkett put in an impressive all-round effort for the Viking, striking 34 not out off just 10 balls before taking 2-29 from his four overs.

Plunkett’s stats have been impressive this tournament having taking 5/91 in T20 Blast so far. In fact his form has been a continuation from the successful England World T20 competition, where Plunkett stood out as one of the most aggressive seam bowlers in the England attack.

It hasn’t all been playing sailing for the seamer, as injuries have kept him sidelined and arguably kept him down the pecking order in terms of England section.

Speaking to the Guardian earlier this year Plunkett said,“I feel what makes me bowl quick is my work ethic. But while I train hard, it also can be my downfall in terms of injuries.”

“It’s hard to judge sometimes. I wouldn’t take it away, though, because I feel like when I’m going well and it all clicks, I’m the quickest bowler in the country.”

Aside from Plunkett the Vikings team containes four other World T20 finalists in Joe Root, David Willey, Adil Rashid and Tim Bresnan, plus two other England internationals in Jonny Bairstow and Gary Ballance.

Don’t be fooling into thinking Yorkshire Vikings are a lost cause this T20 Blast season, there’s still a long way to go in the group stages and given the Vikings incredibly diverse and talented squad, they will be a serious threat at Edgbaston this Friday.
