New kid behind the stumps

Alex, a wicketkeeper-batsman, joined the Bears at the end of the 2015 season after impressing for the Second XI. He had came to prominence by becoming only the seventh Staffordshire cricketer to score a double hundred in the Minor Counties Championship (208 not out against Suffolk) - while also set the county's record for dismissals in the same match by taking 11 catches.

Last season he graduated into the Bears' first team in championship cricket and acquitted himself well. A forceful batsman with a good temperament, this time round, he will be a serious T20 option for Birmingham following a globe-trotting winter. He spent four months playing grade cricket in Australia, then a week at a cricket academy in India before joining up with the Bears pre-season in Dubai. Another young Bear with a very bright future.
