A game-changer

George is another talented youngster knocking on the first-team door at Edgbaston. The seam-bowling all-rounder played his first championship cricket for the Bears last season and acquitted himself well with both bat and ball. He could well be a dark horse for selection in the Vitality Blast in 2018.

In the Bears academy since the age of 14, George, who represented Shrewsbury in the Birmingham League and was captain of Shrewsbury School's first XI, is a seamer who generates good pace and bounce and swings the ball away. He can also deliver game-changing contributions with the bat, making him an interesting selection option in all formats, not least the Blast.

Now 20, Panayi has been on the England pathway and played for England Under 19s. 2018 could be the year when he really kicks on.
