Birmingham Bears completed an emphatic brace of victories over Worcestershire Rapids in back-to-back 2nd XI friendlies at Edgbaston on Monday.

The Bears totalled more than 200 in both games and then bowled out the opposition to complete strong all-round performances.

In the first game, the Bears made 203 for seven thanks to Will Whodes (66 from 37 balls with 11 fours and one six), supported by Matt Lamb (40, 22 balls), Ed Pollock (37, 21) and Grant Elliott (34, 23). They then bowled the Rapids out for 166 with Aaron Thomason taking four for 29, Rhodes three for 36 and Boyd Rankin one for 19 from his four overs.

The Bears then followed that 37-run triumph with one by 59 runs after piling up 206 for six as the in-form Lamb struck 65 (41 balls, three fours, four sixes) while Rhodes added an unbeaten 52 (24) and Adam Hose, having opened the batting, 59 (36).

Their rivals were then rattled out for 147 as captain Dom Sibley took three for 29 and Rhodes continued his excellent day with two for 22.
