Progressing for club and country

Fresh from a strong showing for England in the Under 19s World Cup in New Zealand, Liam Banks is looking to challenge hard for a place in the Birmingham Bears' top order this year.

Liam is highly-rated at Edgbaston and beyond. A regular member of the national Under 19s set-up (he scored a World Cup century against Canada in January) he was given his first championship outings by Warwickshire at the end of last season. That's quite a compliment for an 18-year-old - to be handed the responsibility of opening the batting in four-day cricket.

Liam is also very much a force in white-ball cricket as a forceful batsman who can also contribute some tidy off-spin. Watch this space! In last season's Vitality Blast, young batsman Ed Pollock came from nowhere with some brilliant performances to nail down a place in Birmingham's top order - could Liam do the same in 2018?
